Over the years, the band and I have been interviewed a handful of times. One of the questions everyone asks is “where do you come up with your songs?” I don’t think I’ve ever given the same answer twice. Truth is, I really don’t know.

Some artist say the sculpture is already in the marble or that the painting is already on the canvas. And that the artist simply brings it out. As if destiny brought that artist and the object of their creation together. To me, this explanation adds a lot of soul and importance to the art people create. Much like how most of us like to view our own lives. That it was destiny our parents got together in order for us to be born. You know, like that scene in back to the future when Micheal J Fox’s hand starts to disappear because his parents weren’t hooking up.

So if that’s true, then maybe that lyric or riff was there, suspended in time, waiting for me to pick up my guitar and bring it out or that it is was fate, waiting for the band to get together so that a song could be born.
